This king of Cyprus died in his bed, and without heirs, to the great grief of the Genoefe. I know not who now reigns there ; but the year I ' was in Béarn, the lord de Valenchin, a knight of that country, told me the Genoefe had a great fhare in its government, being mafters of Famagoufta, and that they had crowned Jacquet * king, in default of heirs. I know not how the devil he efcaped from prifon, nor out of the hands of the Genoefe.
