" 4. I begg of yon to leave a briefe answer to the said particulars, and I shall call on your serrent for it.
" For the honourable Henry Seobell, esq., theise." *
During the late repair of the Temple Church, A . n. 1830, the workmen discovered an arrtieot seal of the order of the Hospital, which was carried away, and appears to have got into the hands of strangers. On one side of it b represented the holy sepulchre of Jerusalem, with the Saviour in his tomb. At hie head is an elevated cross, and above is a tabernacle or chapel, from the roof of which depend two incense pots. Around the seal is the inscription, " Fn BEHENGARII CCBTOS PAUPEBCM H OSPITA LIS JiiEHDSALEM." On the reverse a holy man is represented on his knees in the attitude of prayer before a patriarchal cross, on either side of which are the letters Alpha and Omega. Under the first letter is a star.
These particulars have been furnished me by Mr. Savage, the architect.
